Local leaders commend Ashfaq

Lyndsey Kasson Kokoris,

Naperville Community Leader

Thrilled to support my good friend Ashfaq Syed who is running for Naperville City Council. Ashfaq is deeply committed to the community and to the people of this town. From trustee of the Naperville Public Library to board member at Loaves and Fishes Community Services to committee member at 360 Youth Services and diversity advisor member for the Daily Herald, Ashfaq serves and strengthens the whole of our community.

In 2021, Ashfaq was honored with a City of Naperville Mayoral Proclamation for his “outstanding contributions,” serving as Vice-Chairman of the 2020 U.S. Census Naperville Complete Count Committee. Naperville was recognized as the No. 1 city in America ( of over 130,000 residents) for U.S. Census Self Responses. Ashfaq delivers!

I have worked with Ashfaq in the community. He is ethical, respectful, humble, compassionate, a team player, and a great listener. Ashfaq even graduated from our Citizen Police and Fire Academies where participants gain hands-on knowledge and experience of the vital work our first responders do.

Ashfaq will draw on his years of dedicated service in Naperville along with his strong leadership skills to get the job done. Please join me in supporting Ashfaq Syed for Naperville City Council!

I encourage all Naperville residents to get to know Ashfaq Syed and to support his candidacy for City Council. He exemplifies the concept of leadership by example as shown by his many efforts supporting a wide variety of community causes.

Like many people I was unaware of Ashfaq until I ran for City Council in 2020. During the course of that campaign, I became aware of how involved he was in getting people to meet the candidates, understanding the issues, getting out the vote and doing it quietly behind the scenes simply because it was the right thing to do.

When I heard that Ashfaq might be considering a run for City Council, I immediately contacted him and encouraged him to run and am truly delighted by his decision. His extensive community efforts and numerous contacts makes Ashfaq supremely qualified to provide Naperville the leadership it needs and deserves.

I am confident if you take the time to follow his campaign, he will earn your vote.

Endorsing Ashfaq Syed for Naperville City Council because he's the prefect leader for a changing community.  When I first met him 5 years ago he was very welcoming and invited me to several community events. He is so open and create a very inclusive environment.  His agenda is to help people, bring them together and serve the community.

I am happy to support and endorse Ashfaq Syed for Naperville City Council. He has done a phenomenal in various aspects of civic engagement ever since he moved here and called Naperville his home. The work that he has done for Naperville over the years has had significant impact and his record speaks for itself.

Ashfaq was obviously given some important responsibility by the city for his ability to successfully achieve expected results. In many cases, he has surpassed that expectation – as the Co Chair of the 2020 US Census Naperville Committee, I have seen first-hand the effort that he put in that resulted in Naperville being ranked No. 1 city in America (in the population category) for US Census responses which in turn resulted in millions of dollars of funding. His contribution to the city has varied from being a Trustee of the Naperville Library Board to being on the board of Loaves and Fishes whose mission to end hunger and transform lives – speaks of Ashfaq’s compassion.

I have found Ashfaq to be committed, hard working, sincere and a great team player. I think he will bring a fresh perspective to the Naperville City Council that reflects  the increasing diversity in our community. Please join me in supporting his campaign.
